How to Search the LeRoy Court Docket
LeRoy publishes no municipal case-search form. So your first move is deciding what kind of case you have. Is it a city ordinance matter, or a Kansas district case? The word "traffic" on a paper will not settle that. The court name printed on the document will.
- Copy the court name, citation or case number, approximate date, and record type from the source document.
- For a City of LeRoy matter, call City Hall at 620-964-2245 and ask for the municipal court clerk or custodian.
- Request one event or document, such as a setting, complaint, order, judgment, or receipt.
- For Coffey County District Court, use Kansas CaseSearch with District and Coffey County selected.
- Confirm the setting and any copy fee with the clerk that holds the original record.
City Hall may keep old files offsite. If so, ask where and when a file was moved. Never tack a CF prefix onto a municipal number unless the district clerk confirms a separate appeal or district case actually exists.
LeRoy Municipal Court Code Chapter
The LeRoy city council and ordinances source links the full set of city ordinances. Its table of contents lists Chapter IX, Municipal Court. That chapter is the city's municipal-court code structure. It is plain and direct. It does not prove every provision still operates the same way today. Nor is it a list of filed LeRoy cases.

The ordinance link shows where municipal authority comes from. For a case status, hearing date, payment, or disposition, the municipal clerk is still the answer.
- Municipal code
- The city’s ordinances and governmental rules, not a case docket.
- Municipal docket
- The court’s dated record of city ordinance case activity.
- District appeal
- A new Coffey County District Court record created after a municipal judgment is appealed.
- Certified copy
- A clerk-authenticated copy, not a printout of the ordinance book.
The LeRoy Municipal Court
LeRoy's code has a Municipal Court chapter. The official site still posts no public LeRoy docket or payment portal. The city publishes no current municipal judge, court email, session schedule, search fields, or copy fee. City Hall is the starting point for current facts on any municipal matter. Jurisdiction covers city ordinance issues, including ordinance traffic violations. State-law charges, civil suits, probate filings, and other district cases belong to Coffey County District Court. The city code lays out the local legal framework. The court record shows what happened in one case. Those are different questions.
LeRoy City Hall Record Requests
Time a LeRoy municipal request around the city's split-day office schedule. Ask for the municipal clerk or the official custodian. Give the citation or case number. Include a rough date, the record type, and whether you want a copy or certification. One specific entry beats a broad request for every court record the city holds.

Note the noon-to-12:30 closure before calling or stopping at the counter. Fax and email let you ask for instructions from afar. Either one may still require a signed form before a court-record request goes through. So confirm the preferred method before sending case details. The official LeRoy website carries the city's contact information.

The city source supplies the current contact block, not a searchable municipal events index.
LeRoy Court Dates and Settings
For a municipal matter, start with the citation or notice. Read the date and place printed on it first. Then confirm both with City Hall. The clerk posts no official LeRoy court calendar. A city council meeting date or an ordinance publication date is not a court setting. When a clerk gives you a new date, write down who confirmed it and when.
| Date | The listed appearance or hearing day, subject to a lawful reset. |
|---|---|
| Time | The current start time; ask whether it is a docket call. |
| Location | The place stated by the municipal clerk or filed notice. |
| Judge | The current judicial officer, which City Hall must confirm. |
| Setting Type | Arraignment, pretrial, trial, compliance, or another actual label. |
| Case Number | The municipal identifier, kept apart from any CF district number. |
A district setting lives on the Fourth Judicial District Coffey web dockets. Search the judge PDFs with the full case number. Then check CaseSearch too, since a generated calendar can lag behind a recent continuance.
LeRoy Court History and Current Custody
LeRoy ranked fourth among Coffey County incorporated cities. The July 1, 2026 state certification counted 457 residents. County history also records it as an early settlement. It also served as a temporary county-seat location. Burlington later became the center for the court and county offices. That history explains why old county records mention LeRoy at all. It does not mean a LeRoy county court exists now. Current Coffey County District Court files sit with the Clerk of the District Court. That office is in Burlington. Current LeRoy municipal records stay with the city custodian. Treat a historical place name as a date and location clue, nothing more. For district marriage or probate records before February 15, 2001, the Fourth District's old-record process may work from an index, book and page. A case number may also work. Its published historic fees cover only that described collection, not LeRoy municipal requests.
LeRoy Traffic Tickets
A LeRoy police or ordinance citation should name the city court. It should state the response or appearance route. A state citation may instead point to Coffey County District Court. On a municipal ticket, ask City Hall about the date, plea, and contest method. Ask about payment choices and current cost too. The city publishes no online payment page, fixed pay-by date, diversion option, or defensive-driving fee. The statewide Central Payment Center finds certain Kansas court payment obligations by citation or case number. It accepts date of birth, license data, or name. It is a payment search, not a LeRoy municipal docket. Call before paying if you plan to contest. Paying does not display the whole case record. The larger district-versus-municipal split is covered in Coffey County traffic court records. Keep the task focused on your own citation, date, plea route, and filed disposition.
LeRoy City and District Records
Looking for a CF case search will not cover a LeRoy city record. The municipal custodian assigns and keeps that file at City Hall. Coffey County District Court, by contrast, uses Kansas Odyssey numbering after its conversion. A district file there carries a format like CF-2024-CV-000123. Seeing that prefix tells you the docket is district. By itself it does not show a city transfer.
| Need | LeRoy route | Coffey district route |
|---|---|---|
| Case location | City Hall and municipal clerk | CaseSearch and district clerk |
| Hearing date | Citation and city confirmation | Events index and judge PDF |
| Filed copy | City’s confirmed request process | District clerk or court KORA form |
| Certification fee | Ask LeRoy for a quote | Ask district clerk for current fee |
If the district docket search comes up empty, check the venue instead of repeating a statewide name query. City Hall can tell you whether the record simply stayed municipal.
Where LeRoy Cases End Up
A LeRoy municipal judgment can be appealed into the district court of the county where the city court sits. The route runs through K.S.A. 22-3609. That statute usually sets a 14-day notice period after sentence, and the court controls the exact steps.
Docket flow: LeRoy Municipal Court › Coffey County District Court › Kansas Court of Appeals
An appeal opens a district record, but the original municipal file stays a LeRoy record. Ask City Hall for the city number and Coffey County for the appeal number. Neither clerk's search will hold everything the other has.
When an Old LeRoy Case Is Missing
Start with venue and format when an old case seems missing. A municipal number may never show in Kansas CaseSearch at all. District numbers created before Coffey's November 2020 Odyssey conversion may lack the CF prefix. Some restricted categories sit outside online access. Yet an accessible public events index may still be open at the courthouse terminal.
For an old ordinance matter, call LeRoy City Hall. For a state case or appeal, call the Coffey district clerk at 620-364-8628. Offer the approximate year, the court, the record type, and any old number you have. If a transfer happened, ask who received the file. Keep both references.
Old-record clue: LeRoy’s temporary county-seat history explains old geographic references, but it does not move current district records out of Burlington.
Public Access to LeRoy Court Records
LeRoy access starts with the city's own custodian. Learn its request method. The Kansas court KORA form is built for the Supreme Court and the Court of Appeals. It also covers county district courts. It should not be treated as LeRoy's form unless the city confirms it. Ask whether a letter, email, fax, or in-person request is preferred.
Key rules:
K.S.A. 45-218 addresses public inspection, responses, and authorized fees.
K.S.A. 45-220 addresses request procedures and custodian duties.
K.S.A. 45-221 recognizes exemptions and separation of open and closed material.
When it fits, ask for the redacted public portion of the file. A KORA request cannot open sealed, expunged, juvenile, or other nonpublic records.
Verify a LeRoy District Setting
For a Coffey County District Court case touching LeRoy, run a CaseSearch by full case number, then open the Fourth Judicial District calendar. Use Ctrl+F in the Coffey PDFs for Judges Godderz, Wine, and Reynolds. Those reference calendars can lag a recent reset.
The district clerk offers a courthouse terminal and counter at 110 S. 6th Street, Suite 102, in Burlington. Remote users can try 620-364-8628, P.O. Box 330, fax 620-364-8535, or the current clerk email. State the case number and date. This county detail is a routing step for LeRoy users, not a replacement for the city municipal process.
LeRoy Court Docket Handoff Checklist
Before contacting LeRoy City Hall, copy key details exactly. Include the court name, case or citation number, date, and record type. Ask whether the municipal clerk holds the file. Also ask whether the next setting is current. Say whether you need a plain copy, certified copy, payment receipt, or filed judgment. A narrow request beats a broad search.
If staff identify a Coffey district matter, keep the LeRoy source number. Then get the district number. A LeRoy address alone does not make a case municipal. When a LeRoy judgment was appealed, the original and the appeal stay separate records. Ask both clerks which docket entries and filed papers they hold.
Confirm delivery choices, fees, and payment steps before sending anything. The published LeRoy email and fax work for instructions. They are not proof of a complete filing method. Call within the split-day hours and avoid the noon closure. A careful handoff ties each request to the right clerk. It keeps the current LeRoy court docket apart from county history.
LeRoy Docket Route in Plain Terms
LeRoy City Hall handles the first municipal question. A citation should name the venue and the response date. Staff there can confirm the clerk, the setting, the copy route, and payment steps. When a filing is not municipal, the search moves to Coffey County District Court. A LeRoy municipal appeal creates that county file too.
Keep the LeRoy source number. Ask for the original record. Then use the district number for the appeal. This two-clerk map keeps each docket entry, setting, filing, and copy with its true custodian. That holds for every LeRoy court record.
